A Reflection on Convergence 2008

by Carley Friesen

A coming together…
That’s what this event is for me.
A coming together of the most amazing women ever (tall! – did you notice how many tall women were there?!);
A coming together of dreams and visions from many people and communities – in the northwest and the world;
A coming together of new energies, creating new life, sort of a seed-planting and germinating time;
A coming together of artists in word, music, media, painting, sculpting, dancing … and community-creating;
A coming together of women and the Spirit of God.
And when the Spirit moves upon the water, new life is created – new life in our souls, new life in our communities, new life in the Kingdom of God.

Gallery of Awesome Women’s Work

It is sometimes good to be reminded that there’s more to life than work and “ministry”. It is also good to be recognized and encouraged for taking risks and building skills. Our creative endeavors are a reflection of the God the ultimate creator. As we create and explore, we renew ourselves and we honor God.

At Convergence Edgefield 2007 we launched an all woman’s gallery and invited you to bring and display your art, hobby, handmade wares, creative writing, paintings…An amazing array of beautiful and inspiring pieces showed up…photography, knitting, a sword, pottery to purchase…

Once again this year we invite you to “show your stuff”: if you create something bring it so we can it admire your work, if you create something to sell, bring it on (only handcrafted by you items please, no other sales), if you participate in an interesting sport- bring photos of yourself in action, if you are a novice or a professional you are welcome.

If you would like to participate, (we hope you will!) please contact Rev. Carley Friesen atskypilot917 at comcast <dot> net to let her know what you will bring so she can plan the display space.
